Education

Our current educational system has lost its ability to focus on the fundamental basics and has declined into the slow drift towards the priorities demanded by political correctness.

As a father and grandfather, I know how important a proper education is for our children. The realities of our world and its ever-changing technologies and markets demand teaching methods that emphasize language, math and science, which give our children the ability to succeed. This will also put an end to the “status quo” of high paying jobs being sent overseas.

I am a firm believer in parental involvement in the education of our children. This means that parents, not the Federal Government, should control their children’s education. I am a supporter of school vouchers because it empowers parents with the ability to move their child from an underperforming school to an educational institution of their choosing. As a Congressman, I would make it a priority to protect parental supervision in the education of their children.

Furthermore, earning a respectable living should not be reserved for college graduates. That is why I support a vocational education system. I will work to insure that vocational programs are emphasized in North Carolina’s school system and around the country.

Like many families across North Carolina’s 8th Congressional District, my wife and I have decided to home-school our two youngest children. If you elect me as your Congressman, I will work to protect the rights of those who wish to teach their children at home.
