Veterans
Not only am I a veteran, but so is my wife Colleen and my oldest son.
Freedom isn’t Free and I can assure you that I will never forget those who have sacrificed so much in the service of our great nation. North Carolina has one the largest populations of current and former service members in the United States and the 8th district is home to many of them. If elected, I promise to work tirelessly to ensure our heroes are taken care of, and my door will ALWAYS be open for those seeking my assistance.
I will fight to increase the quality of care at our Veteran’s Affairs (VA) health facilities and find ways to bring structure to the inefficient mess of the VA bureaucracy.
I am well aware that some men and women who are returning home from the battlefield are having trouble readjusting back into civilian life, and especially assimilating back into the workforce. With an already growing unemployment problem across this country, newly returned veterans will have a tougher time finding employment. I see a partial solution in offering increased tax credits to those small businesses and corporations that hire veterans. When we lower taxes on businesses, we promote job growth.
